RECOGNIZING LOCAL GOVERNMENT WEBSITE TRANSPARENCY

FROM SCHOOL BOARDS TO COUNTY BOARDS PROMOTING ACCESS TO INFORMATION ON ELECTED OFFICIALS AND PUBLIC MEETINGS

13,000

elected officials in Wisconsin serve on over 2,350 local elected bodies - city councils, county boards, village boards, town boards and school boards. For citizens, finding information about who represents them and how to participate can be daunting.

The ConnectWI Logo on a Wisconsin Local Government Official Web Site recognizes excellence in providing easily accessible and timely information on local elected officials, and opportunities to participate in and learn about the workings of public decision-making bodies such as boards and committees -- key elements in ensuring citizen participation and the democratic process.

ConnectWI is offered in partnership with the Wisconsin Broadcaster's and Wisconsin Newspaper Associations, supporting easy public access to information related to elected officials and public meetings. ConnectWI is a project of the Women's Council - a non-partisan initiative promoting best practices in web site transparency and accessibility. Logo Design by Cricket Design Works.
