Why Get Certified?

Certification is a way to promote your company to corporations and government agencies that are actively seeking to conduct business with women-owned businesses.

Certification validates that the business is 51 percent owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a woman or women. Women owned businesses complete a formal documentation and site visit process which is administered by the DOA Supplier Diversity Program (linked above), giving women-owned businesses the ability to compete for business opportunities with corporations and government agencies.

Firms certified through the Wisconsin Supplier Diversity program can receive technical and marketing assistance, including participation in Marketplace, a statewide business marketing conference. Certified firms are also eligible to be listed in the State of Wisconsin's Directory of Minority, Woman, and Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses which is circulated to corporate buyers throughout the state purchasing agents (linked above).

Wisconsin Supplier Diversity Business Certification

The State of Wisconsin is committed to providing woman-owned businesses with a credible certification that validates their business ownership. The program is administered by the Wisconsin Supplier Diversity Program, Wisconsin Department of Administration.

Woman's Business Enterprise (WBE) certification requires that the business is, at a minimum, 51% owned, managed and controlled by a woman or women applicant(s). An applicant will be required to provide a copy of business tax returns along with other proprietary documentation to support their application.
